About
Russel Frans’ work brings together books, art, photography, music, games, and real estate through one personal brand shaped by creativity, perspective, and connection.
A Creative Life Across Multiple Mediums
Some ideas are best expressed through writing. Others take shape through image, sound, conversation, or the work of helping people move forward in a meaningful season of life. Across books, visual art, photography, music, game-related storytelling, and real estate, Russel Frans brings a wide-ranging but connected approach to the work he does.
What ties it together is a long-standing interest in story, communication, imagination, and the way different mediums can create a lasting connection with people.
Russel’s Bio:
“Life is short. Do all the things.”
Russel was born in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area in that wild decade known as the 1980’s. Russel always wanted to do all the things: Russel wanted to be an actor and a philosopher and an astrophysicist and a philanthropist, Russel always enjoyed playing games so he started making them, Russel’s never met a musical instrument he didn’t like, Russel was an appreciator of art and so he studied the techniques of his favorites, Russel always appreciated the art of photography and so he started capturing the beautiful moments he saw around him, Russel loved to read fantastical and far-reaching fiction and so it was not long before he started to create it too.
Sadly, it took him decades too long to realize that one of the things that truly satisfies him to the core is creative pursuits. And he does mean pursuit. While the results can and should be appreciated, there is fulfillment in the journey.
Russel is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, and vocalist. His first self-produced album, Lilan and Other Subjects, was released in 2005, and the follow up, Christine – EP, was released in 2007. Since that time, he has made it back to the recording studio several times, but the next major release is still pending.
Russel has been a creative writer for most of his life, but his first novel, Victory and Death, was released in 2024. This epic fantasy is the first in a series, with the first of eight sequels, History and Fates, releasing in 2026. Russel founded Worlds Collide Publishing in 2023 as an outlet by which to share these works with the world.
Though Russel has sketched for his entire life, he has stepped into professional art creation only as recently as 2024. Common media of Russel’s are pencil sketches, ink drawings, and acrylic paintings. As much respect as Russel has for digital artists, it is the hand-drawn and physically painted art that will always capture his heart.
Russel is the designer of nearly a dozen unreleased board games, though some of these may one day see the light of day. Russel has worked in ancillary roles within the gaming industry on and off, most recently as a member of the Story Team for the game Warlord: Saga of the Storm, by Kingswood Games..
A statement from Russel regarding AI:
“Nothing you see from me is created with any intentional assistance form of generative AI. Ever. I believe such tools are the antithesis of creativity, crafted from the stolen substance of talented, hard-working people they actively put out of a job. My writing is my own words. My artwork is my own expression. My music comes from my own voice. In my own opinion, all of these things are intrinsically human, and truly inimitable by machine.”
Russel now lives in the Spokane area of the Inland Pacific Northwest with his wife and son, and he is thrilled to continue to pursue the creative process in any way and every way he can.
“Thank you sincerely for joining me on this journey.”
